How To Play Audio Downloads on Android
If you want to download mp3 meditations or audio programs and listen to them directly on your Android phone or tablet, without using a computer to transfer files, the steps below will put you on the right track:
Please note: we've provided the instructions below to get you started, but our team is NOT able to offer tech support for any of these methods. If you're having trouble at any step, we highly recommend turning to the official support for the audio player app you're using.
- Start by logging into Saratoga's course library or membership hub on your Android device. Find the file you want, and download it.
- You might be prompted to choose where to save the file. By default, downloaded files usually go to the Downloads folder, accessible through the Files app.
- Once the download finishes, you should be able to open and play it. However, you likely want to come back to it later and have an organized library of meditations and audio programs. To do this, you'll need to use a music player app. Many popular Android music apps let you listen to local files. Two we've tried that work well are the YouTube Music app (which comes preinstalled on many devices), and VLC (which is available free in the Play Store).
Using YouTube Music
Open the YT Music app and go to the Library tab. You may see a prompt to allow access to local files:
Tap Allow, and then wait for the app to find files from your Downloads. After they're discovered, they will show up under the Device Files tab in Library:
If you don't see the Device Files tab, you may need to allow access to your local files. Tap your user icon, then go to Settings > Library & downloads and make sure "Show device files" is toggled ON.
Using VLC
After installing the VLC app, go to the Audio tab. If prompted to give the app access to files and media, allow it. Downloaded audio files should appear in the Audio tab, sortable by artist and album.
If you don't see any files, go to More > Settings > Media library folders and make sure the memory location where your downloads folder is stored is checked.
Other Apps
Refer to the app's own support for how to import locally-stored audio files.
